Sharing printers on a network

For computers that are networked, shared network resource may be a printer. To use the printer as a shared connection to a specific printer or directly to the network (the printer has built-in network adapter), or connect the printer to one computer on the network (via USB or LPT port).

If the printer is connected to the network as a separate member of the network, he stands out as a computer, a specific IP-address and subnet mask. Typically, these printers have a special display with buttons to configure these settings. To connect to the desired computer on the Network Neighborhood icon, right click and select the printer.

If your printer is not connected to a separate device, you must open it to public access through one of the computers on the network. To do this:

1. Connect the printer to the computer and install all the drivers.

2. Click Start, Printers and Faxes (Start, Printers and Faxes). You will see a dialog box that displays all the printers and fax machines connected to the computer.

3. The icon of the required printer, right-click. Then, select Sharing (Sharing).

4. In the window that appears, select the Sharing tab. Set the switch on the Share this printer (Share this printer). Further, in a new window, we can give the name of the printer. Under this name will be seen by all computers on the network.

In order that we can use this printer from a remote computer we need on a remote computer, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, in turn, Printers and Faxes (Start, Printers and Faxes).

2. Installing the printer (Add a printer).

3. You must run the Add Printer Wizard. It'll click Next.

4. In the dialog box, set the switch to the state network printer attached to another computer (A network printer, or a printer that attached to another computer). Click Next.

5. Install in the dialog box to switch printers Overview (Browse of a printer) and click Next.

6. In the new window find the icon of the computer that is connected to the printer you want us to. Select it and click Next.

7. We are prompted to install drivers for it. We need to push further in the subsequent windows, and finally click the Finish button.

The printer is now configured and we can print documents from a remote computer. The number of printers that can be connected indefinitely. Just one of these printers as the default printer, and it will be sent to print from any application by default. To print to another printer, you need to select the appropriate printer in your program.
